New servers – We have upgraded the infrastructure to house the Systems on bigger, faster, more powerful servers. You should notice the difference in accessing pages and reports. These servers also allow us to be more scalable. That means we can handle the load as your practice grows, and more NaturaeSoft customers join up.
New Data Base – We have made a big switch with the Data Base software on the back end. The new DB software handles concurrency much better. So, it’s much friendlier to multiple users in one practice. It’s faster and has more functionality. It’s more Scalable, and is all around a more Enterprise Class system. We are very excited about it, but we can’t mention the name. It’s a SeQreLt (the L is silent).
New Host – Our new servers are now hosted in a more secure and redundant locations. That is good news for you if you lay awake at night worrying about catastrophic disasters bringing down the network. There are many redundant “pipes” running to and from your data and you. If there is a train wreck severing the cables in one location, there is an alternate path to the servers coming in from another direction. Improved Disaster Recovery and Encrypted Data Backup solutions allow for peace of mind that your data is safe.
IP authorization process – Now any user with Admin level permissions can authorize IP access to your practice DB. This gives you more control over who can access your site, and from where without having to create a support ticket. Wield this power wisely.
New Admin\Support - We have consolidated support tickets into one portal for easier submittal and tracking. Click the “?” icon at the bottom of most OfficePro pages, and you will be directed to your own Practice’s Support page. You can now add notes and comments to existing tickets, eliminating the need to create a new ticket any time you want to update an issue.
CMS 1500 Form Generation – Now OfficePro allows for CMS 1500 form generation, and submittal. We are partnering with industry leader E-Claim to bring you this service.
More DX Coding Flexibility – You can now add multiple Diagnostic Codes to a specific service.

The Five Keys to a Profitable Practice conference in Scottsdale, Arizona was a success despite its low turnout. Although the information provided is not rocket science or brain surgery, it was needed information for our profession and I do believe it benefited each of the participants significantly.
Dr. Michael Smith of NDcoach.com, a business consultant explained how the simple statement, "I am an expert in ..." will allow whomever you are speaking with to relate to what you do and visualize how to refer to you.
Too often we explain to people that we can help him with anything and for any concern, leaving them no real way of understanding how to relate to what we do. Dr. Smith also explained how to avoid the trap of saying that you're an expert in Naturopathic medicine as our medicine and the words naturopathic medicine usually do not have meaning to the majority of people.
Dr. Ofer, a naturopathic physician, spoke of charging more for your services in order to gain greater respect from those who pay for them. He spoke eloquently about the process we all must go through in finding confidence in what we charge and how we feel about the value of our medicine. One of the most valuable statements referred to the understanding that, "The more that you have, the more that you can give."
Overall the NDNR provided a valuable service to our profession and the allied integrative health professions as a whole by providing this lecture series. I do hope the limited attendance was accounted for by conflicting conventions as I know this information is needed for the majority of us.

We got back from the 5 Keys to a Profitable Practice Conference last week. The conference was put on by Naturopathic Doctor News and Review in Scottsdale, Arizona. The conference featured some excellent speakers. I can’t remember the last time I heard attendees of a conference speak so glowingly of all the speakers.
We had a chance to meet some great doctors in attendance and were happy for the opportunity to have a chance to interact in an intimate setting where we could spend time with the doctors as they came by to visit. You can now schedule providers across different rooms for specific times
The new Rooms and Resources systems will change how you think of scheduling. You now have the ability to schedule a single provider across different rooms. You can also schedule the provider’s time within the visit allowing you the flexibility to schedule that provider for part or all of any visit. This gives you the potential for providers to see more patients in the same time period without the confusion of double bookings.
Schedule your Resources as well
The new Rooms and Resources system adds the ability to schedule specific resources to a visit as well. This means you now have the ability to schedule a piece of equipment or any other resource that you want to track across appointments. Just like providers, resources can be scheduled for part or all of any visit.
User Access System
Now you can set user access at a more specific level
The new User Access system will give increased flexibility to administrators to determine which aspects of the system they want each user to be able to access. Where previously there were 3 pre set options you will now be able to allow or deny access to very specific aspects of the OfficePro system. This not only allows for better security, but also will allow you to give access to any contractors you may use knowing that you can limit those users to just the information they need to access.
Schedule Views
New Schedule views offer you more options
New and enhanced schedule views offer a greater variety of schedule views as well as the ability to set your own home page in the system to the view you find most useful. The scheduling system has been completely overhauled to be expressed by provider, room, resource or front desk. We have also added the ability to create and define holidays for your clinic in which all providers will automatically be marked out.
Financial Tracking
Enjoy improved financial reporting at the provider level
Financial Tracking improvements have been made to the system as well allowing you to better track payments to specific visits and also offering more robust reporting of financials on an individual provider basis. You will now be able to easily see not just the services and products that a provider has sold, but whether they have been paid yet. You also will enjoy the new deposit system which will allow you to track your deposits on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.
Encounters
New Encounter features make checking out patients even easier
Encounters have also been enhanced to allow for easier check out of patients and for shipping products to customers from your dispensary. There is a new tab on the encounter screen that will allow you to easily view availablilty for follow up appointments for a patient at common time intervals used for follow up visits. On this same tab you can now print shipping receipts with all the product and patient information necessary to fulfill the order and ship it out to the patient.
Our new drop ship system simplifies the process for you to ship products directly to your patients
We have developed a streamlined drop ship process that enables you to quickly and easily create drop ship orders for patients to make it easy to prescribe and order products that you either don’t have in inventory or have simply sold out. We have taken what used to be a labor intensive, time consuming process and streamlined it down to an easy to execute order.

I found this blog the other day with some great information for our Naturopathic Medical students out there. The blogger is a CCNM Student and he has written some excellent posts on the various challenges that students face as they work through their studies and prepare to practice. The blog does an excellent job of exploring the business side of practice and in this post writes about the importance of viewing the business models of current successful practitioners to help you prepare for your own practice.
I couldn't agree more. Naturopathic Students need to know that there are successful mentors, models and systems out there already in place that can help make them successful.
