October 2026

BillPro

  • Fixed
Daily Claims by Date of Service

The daily claims list included claims created that day for earlier visits. It now lists only claims whose dates of service fall on that day.

  • Fixed
    Claims with No Services

A claim with no service lines showed green, as though it were complete and paid. It now shows red with No services on claim until services are added to it or it is deleted.

  • Fixed
ERA Posting Uses the Payment You Entered

When an ERA was posted for an insurance check the office had already entered by hand, BillPro added a second payment for the same check, so the money could be allocated twice, and posting a second ERA on the same check number could clear the allocations of other payments on that check. Posting now uses the matching payment you entered, keeping its date, amount and deposit, warns when more than one could match, and leaves other payments on the check alone.

  • New
Visit Diagnosis List on the Encounter

BillPro practices now keep one diagnosis list per visit on the encounter, up to twelve codes, searched from the current ICD-10 code set with a specifier that steps from a category down to a billable code. New service lines follow the visit's first four codes, while lines given their own codes, and lines already on a claim, are left alone. The same list appears in the chart note's Coding panel and in each service's Edit Service window.

  • New
    Open Claims in Allocate Payment

Allocate Payment has a new Open Claims window that lists patients with unpaid claim lines for the payment's payer, then their dates of service, then the lines to post, as the retired Legacy EOB Form's list did. It opens by itself while money is left to allocate. Lines on this payment are now shaded green and listed first, and lines completed by another payment are grey.

  • Improved
Appeal Button on Any Sent Claim

The Appeal button, which opens a ClaimMD appeal, was shown only on rejected claims. The claim's own page now has an Appeal button for any claim ClaimMD has received, including accepted claims a payer later denied and claims re-created after sending.

  • Fixed
    Allocate Payment Rows Saving Repeatedly

On Allocate Payment, two rows could keep saving each other, so the screen flashed between Save and Saved and every save added another note to the claim's history. Each row now saves once per change, and the cursor stays where you are working.

  • Fixed
    Processing Reports by Date Received

BillPro Processing Reports filtered on the visit's date of service, so Today was nearly always empty and recent replies were hard to find, and searching the list gave an error. The list now has a Received column showing when each reply reached BillPro, filters and sorts on it with the newest first, and searches the message, claim number and patient name.

  • Updated
    Legacy EOB Form Retired

The Legacy EOB Form button has been removed from Allocate Payment, and old links to that form now open Allocate Payment for the same payment. When its Allowed box was empty, the old form could book the whole charge as an insurance write-off without warning, and the wrong figure stayed after the real amount was typed. Post insurance payments from Allocate Payment.

September 2026

BillPro

  • Improved
    Remittances Grouped by Paid Month

The ERAs Received list now uses the same framed layout as other OfficePro lists, with a heading showing how many remittances were received and a shaded row starting each paid month, so one month's remittances are easy to find. Search, paging, processing and PDF links work as before.

  • Improved
    Prior Authorization Tracking

Insurance cases now hold the dates a prior authorization is valid, the visits authorized and the maximum amount, beside the authorization number. Creating a claim for a visit outside those dates, or one an eligibility check flagged as needing an authorization, now shows a warning to check the authorization before sending. Practices using eligibility checks can also record an authorization from the visit's eligibility answer.

  • Improved
    Consistent BillPro Sidebar

The BillPro sidebar is now the same on every BillPro page, including the Account page, which had been missing the payment and ERA buttons. Each button has an icon and Settings is always last. Several buttons are renamed: Process Payment, ERAs (with the tax ID), Account Settings and Processing Reports. The BillPro Settings window now shows its sections side by side.

  • Fixed
    Claim Dates of Service

Claims with a single service were saved without an end date of service, so the BillPro claims list showed them with a placeholder date of 1/1/01 beside the real one. Claims created or re-created now record their first and last service dates correctly.

  • Fixed
    PR Rule Post Setting

Saving an ERA denial code rule for a PR (patient responsibility) code switched its Post setting back to Yes, as though the choice had been ignored. The setting is now kept as chosen, the rules list shows n/a for PR, and the form explains that only Alert applies, because a patient's share is never written off as an insurance adjustment.

  • Fixed
    Large ERA PDF Downloads

Remittance PDFs covering many claims sometimes opened as damaged files because they were cut off when stored. Remittance PDFs of any size now download and open in full.

  • Fixed
    ERA Retrieval Restored

Electronic remittances from the clearinghouse stopped arriving automatically in August, when an unrelated claim-status error blocked the download. ERAs are now retrieved hourly on their own schedule, and remittances missed during the outage have been recovered.

  • Improved
    ERA Processing Results

Processing an ERA now opens a proper window that can always be closed, with a progress indicator and a clear message if the request fails. Every charge line links to its encounter, and a new Transactions Posted table lists each payment and adjustment the ERA posted.

  • New
    ERA Denial Code Rules

Billing managers can now decide how each insurance reason code on an ERA is handled: post it as an adjustment, post it and alert a staff member, or hold it back. Denials that may still be collectable no longer have to be written off automatically. With no rules set, posting works exactly as before.

  • Fixed
    Product Return Credits Protected

Unticking a return visit on the payment allocation screen removed the credit a product return had given the patient, leaving the return visit unpaid and the credit lost. That row can no longer be removed, and a message explains why. The encounter's Refund Return Credit button now also rebuilds a lost return credit.

August 2026

BillPro

  • Improved
Refunds Visible in the Payments List

Card refunds now appear in the payments list alongside the original payment, so a refunded transaction can be seen without opening it.

  • Fixed
    Refund and Void Labels

Refunds were being labelled as voided, and voided transactions as refunded. Each is now labelled for what it is.

  • Improved
    Payment Detail Clarity

The card payment detail screen now uses status badges, describes bank transfers in plain language, shows amounts that agree with the payments list, and hides the authorization line when there is no authorization to show.

  • Improved
    Payment Allocation Safeguards

Applying a payment across several visits now guards against over-allocating when the add buttons are clicked in quick succession, so a payment cannot be applied twice.

  • New
Over Paid Visits and Over Applied Payments

A new report highlights visits where payments exceed charges and payments applied beyond their amount, with tools to review and correct each one.

July 2026

BillPro

  • New
    ERA Auto-Posting

Insurance remittances are now retrieved and posted automatically on a schedule, with the results visible on the operations dashboard.

  • New
    Direct Claim Submission to ClaimMD

Claims are now submitted straight to ClaimMD through their API instead of by file transfer, with practices moved across one at a time. Duplicate submissions and corrected claims are recognized and handled properly.

  • New
    Cloud Integration File Gathering

Claim and laboratory files are now collected and delivered by a scheduled cloud service, replacing the older file-transfer scripts.

  • New
    Claim and Remittance Monitoring

Submitted, rejected, and stuck claims now appear on the operations dashboard alongside remittance posting, so problems are spotted the same day.

  • New
    Claim Status Import

Claim status responses are now imported directly from ClaimMD over their API, so claim states update without waiting for a file drop.

  • Improved
    Claim Response Protection

The claim gathering and import process now protects against losing a claim response if a transfer is interrupted part way through.

June 2026

BillPro

  • Improved
    Duplicate ERA Protection

Insurance remittances (ERAs) that are duplicate re-adjudications of already-paid claims are now detected and skipped, preventing double-posted payments and write-offs. The system also self-heals any incorrect credits left by earlier processing, leaving genuine payments available to be allocated correctly.

  • Fixed
    More Reliable Secondary Insurance Claims

Improved claim generation so claims with missing or blank insurance information no longer fail, making primary and secondary insurance claims more reliable.

May 2026

BillPro

  • Fixed
    Allocate Payment Form Buttons Corrected

Fixed the New EOB Form and allocation update actions on the payer payment allocation screen so they open and save against the correct page, and removed a stray dollar sign that appeared in editable amount fields.

  • Fixed
    Allocation Screen Shows Cross-Payer Services

The payment allocation screen now also displays services that already have an active allocation for the payment even when they were filed under a different payer, preventing previously allocated amounts from disappearing from view.

  • New
    Payment Link on Remittance List

The Electronic Remittance Advice list now shows a direct link to the posted insurance payment for each remittance, so staff can jump straight to allocating that payment.

  • Improved
    More Accurate ERA Patient Matching

Improved automatic matching of incoming remittance payments to the correct patient by also comparing first names, which prevents allocations from landing on the wrong patient when two patients share a last name. Payments now also prefer the currently active claim-linked service.

  • Improved
    ERA Search and Filter

The ERA list now includes a search bar that instantly filters remittances by check number, ERA ID, or payment amount, making it faster to locate a specific payment.

  • Fixed
    ERA Adjustment Applied to Claims

Fixed an issue where insurance adjustments included in a remittance file were not being correctly posted to the corresponding claim lines, which could leave balances appearing higher than expected.

  • New
    ERA List

A dedicated list of Electronic Remittance Advice records is now available in BillPro, giving billers a centralized place to review all incoming remittances across their clearinghouse accounts.

  • Improved
    ERA Import Workflow

Improved the process for importing and applying Electronic Remittance Advice files from the clearinghouse. Practices with multiple billing accounts can now manage ERAs across all accounts from a single view.

  • Improved
    Insurance Payment Allocation

The insurance payment allocation screen has been updated with a cleaner layout, improved adjustment tracking, and more reliable save behavior, making it easier to apply and reconcile payer payments against claim balances.

  • Fixed
    Claim Appeal Link

Fixed the claim appeal submission link in BillPro. The link was not generating correctly, preventing staff from initiating appeals directly from the claim detail screen.

  • Fixed
    ERA Processed Twice Prevention

The ERA import process now detects when a remittance has already been applied and skips it automatically, preventing duplicate payment entries from appearing on patient accounts.

April 2026

BillPro

  • Improved
    Billing Statement Layout Updates

Patient billing statements have been updated with layout and content improvements, including enhanced email statement templates for improved presentation when sending statements directly to patients.
